JUST HATCHED

Lasher Meadows began on warm April day in 2012 when Brian took our oldest sons, Kyle and Brendan, to get guinea pig food. When they returned with 8 chickens and 2 ducks, Hannah and Collin were thrilled! Shannon, however, was not as excited. "What are we going to do with them???", she demanded. Well, we started a farm.

About Us: Welcome

OLD TRADITIONS, NEW GENERATIONS

Farming came naturally for Brian. He grew up on local farms, learning to raise and care for many types of plants and animals from his parents. He even worked for a local farm vet as a young man.

The history of the Lasher family is interwoven with local farming history. Sebastian Lasher, Sr. was a Palantine refugee who came to America in 1710. Sebastian was a farmer in his native Germany. He became a sharecropper for Robert Livingston and was eventually granted the land he farmed, on which he and his son Konradt built The Stone Jug, a historic home on his former property that still stands today.

LEARNING TO LIVE BETTER

Our family of 6 quickly fell in love with our new feathered friends, and before we knew it, our family's hobby was becoming more of a way of life. We all loved the sweet birds, the hard work and satisfaction that comes with caring for them every day, the fun of collecting eggs, and best of all, we were eating just a little bit less of the frightening things that were in the grocery store. We got to see our breakfast made! As our feathered family grew, so did our interest in changing the way that we eat and live. Now we can share our homegrown products with you.

OUR MISSION

Today, Lasher Meadows is home to chickens, ducks, turkeys, guinea hen, quail, geese and pigs. We cooperate with nature to create products that are healthy, safe, nutritious, delicious, and ethically produced. Care is given to ensure that all of our production practices are economically sound, ecologically sustainable, and that our animals are always humanely treated. Our farm has evolved into a way of life for us, and we are now joined by our niece Becca, her daughter Amelia, Brian’s sister Brenda, our grandchildren Shayne and Lucas, and our daughter-in-law Selena in this dream, and we’ve begun growing our own produce, creating medicinal gardens for our animals, and have huge changes in the works.

You can trust that we wouldn't feed you anything that we wouldn't feed our family. We source high-quality, locally-grown-and-produced feed that is highly nutritional, as well as antibiotic, hormone and GMO-free. All of our products are grown by our loving hands. Our mission is to produce the finest, freshest quality eggs and poultry for our enjoyment and yours, to educate people about the benefits of eating a farm fresh diet, and to share our love of all things local, farm raised and feathered with you!
